The Governing Council of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr Jadesola Babatola as the university’s seventh substantive Registrar and Secretary to the Council.
Babatola will serve a five-year term, with his appointment taking effect on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The university’s Deputy Registrar and Head of the Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, Mayowa Ogunlola, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
According to Ogunlola, the approval was granted during the Governing Council’s regular meeting held on Thursday.
Babatola was a Deputy Registrar at EKSU before his appointment to the position of Registrar.
He attended Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, now Ekiti State University.
He later obtained an M.Sc. in Political Science, specialising in Public Administration, from the University of Ibadan in 1997. In 2019, he earned a PhD in History and International Studies from EKSU.
The new Registrar, who previously served as Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, has held several senior administrative positions.
His previous appointments include Commissioner at the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board; Registrar and Secretary to Council of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo, from 2017 to 2018; Registrar and Secretary to Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Island, Bayelsa State, from 2018 to 2021; and Registrar and Secretary to Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, from 2021 to 2025.
Ogunlola said Babatola belongs to several professional organisations, including the Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Administration, Institute of Management Consultants and Institute of Corporate Administration, where he is a Fellow.
He is also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, as well as a member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators and the Association of University Administrators in the United Kingdom.
He is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
The university described Babatola as an historian, public analyst, university administrator and higher education manager.
He briefly worked in the private sector before joining EKSU in 2001 as an Administrative Officer One.
The university expressed confidence in his new role and wished him a successful tenure as Registrar and Secretary to the Council.
