Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has rejected allegations by singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, that he bit him during their recent celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
The two entertainers faced off at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Lagos, on Friday, with Okocha declared the winner after Portable was disqualified for breaching the rules by switching from wrestling techniques to punches before leaving the ring.
After the fight, Portable claimed that Okocha bit him on the back and held his neck during the contest, adding that he should not have taken part in such a match.
Speaking on TVC Entertainment on Tuesday, Okocha denied the accusation and said he wore a mouth guard throughout the fight, making the allegation impossible.
“Portable has been telling people that I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard, so how could that happen? He was simply not telling the truth,” Okocha said.
The actor added that he had no reason to bite the singer and joked that he would rather “chew grass” than bite Portable, insisting he had no interest in doing such a thing.
Okocha said Portable should simply accept the result of the bout.
The rematch was not the first boxing encounter between the two celebrities. In 2023, Portable defeated Okocha in a celebrity boxing event held at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, and won the championship belt.
Portable recently suffered another defeat in a celebrity boxing match against skit maker Carter Efe. Following that loss, he alleged foul play, claiming his opponent held him by the neck and demanding ₦200 million in compensation from the organisers, while also saying his wife was in labour during the fight.
