FIFA Tightens Stadium Rules, Bans Water Bottles

Football’s governing body, FIFA, has introduced a new stadium policy prohibiting fans from bringing refillable water bottles into World Cup venues, a move that has sparked debate among supporters ahead of the tournament.

The decision marks a change from previous guidelines, which allowed spectators to carry empty, transparent reusable plastic bottles of up to one litre into stadiums. Updated regulations now explicitly state that reusable water bottles are not permitted inside match venues.

FIFA defended the policy, saying the measure was introduced for safety reasons. According to the organisation, several World Cup stadiums already enforce similar restrictions, and the ban is aimed at reducing the risk of injury to players, fans, officials, volunteers and stadium staff.

The development means supporters will have to rely on water and beverages sold inside stadiums during matches, with the rule expected to affect fan experience throughout the competition.
