The United States has designated all FIFA World Cup stadiums and surrounding fan zones as strict “No Drone Zones” under a new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety plan aimed at strengthening airspace security during the tournament.
The FAA has introduced temporary flight restrictions prohibiting unauthorized drone operations within three nautical miles of match venues and up to 1,000 feet around official fan events. Additional limits include a one-nautical-mile restriction zone around organized fan gatherings in host cities. FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the measures are designed to protect spectators, warning that violators will face swift enforcement. The FBI also confirmed that offenders could be traced and prosecuted, with penalties reaching up to $100,000, alongside possible seizure of equipment and federal charges
