OPay has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria and its customers, insisting that the financial technology company remains fully operational and focused on providing safe and responsible financial services.
The company’s Chief Legal Counsel, Akinfolabi Moses Romosu, made the remarks while addressing members of the public and media partners amid concerns over the spread of unverified information about the company.
Romosu said OPay takes issues of public trust, consumer protection, regulatory compliance and the integrity of the financial system seriously as a regulated financial services company.
He said the company would continue to cooperate with relevant regulatory and law enforcement authorities to address the spread of false information and ensure that those responsible are dealt with in accordance with the law.
Romosu said OPay’s commitment to Nigeria was demonstrated through long-term investments, including its 1.2 billion, 10-year scholarship programme supporting students in tertiary institutions across the country.
According to him, the scholarship initiative represents a sustained investment in Nigerian youths and the communities where the company operates.
He added that OPay remains focused on strengthening security, compliance, customer protection and responsible financial services.
Romosu urged Nigerians to reject unverified information and rely on official sources, stressing the need to protect public confidence in the country’s growing digital financial ecosystem.
“OPay remains committed to Nigeria. We remain committed to our customers, and we will continue to uphold the standards, responsibilities and obligations expected of a trusted financial institution,” he said.
