Crude oil imports recorded through Lagos Ports declined by 38.6 per cent in September 2026, with 1,470,109 metric tonnes imported during the month, compared with 2,392,354 metric tonnes recorded in August.
The Lagos import chart released on Tuesday showed the September figure, although the data covers a month that still had eight days remaining, meaning the final position could change.
According to the Shipping Position obtained from the Nigerian Ports Authority, several petroleum products and other commodities also recorded significant import volumes during the period.
Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, accounted for the largest volume among the petroleum products listed, with 526,500 metric tonnes imported.
Aviation Turbine Fuel, also known as JET A1, recorded 167,000 metric tonnes, while Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), or diesel, stood at 82,500 metric tonnes.
Meanwhile, imports of bulk wheat totalled 173,483 metric tonnes during the period.
The figures show different import levels across petroleum products and other major commodities handled through the ports.
However, the data does not include crude oil imported through the Lekki Deep Sea Port, meaning the figures do not represent Nigeria’s total crude oil imports for the period.
