Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has expressed condolences over the death of veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs, describing him as a symbol of excellence and professionalism.
Obi shared his tribute on X on Thursday, following the announcement of Jacobs’ death by his family on Wednesday.
The former Anambra State governor said Jacobs made significant contributions to Nigeria’s film and creative industry throughout a career that spanned several decades in both Britain and Nigeria.
Obi said the actor’s life demonstrated the importance of talent, discipline, professionalism and dedication to one’s chosen profession.
He added that Jacobs’ death was a reminder that life is temporary and that people should use their abilities and responsibilities to make meaningful contributions to society.
According to Obi, whatever responsibility individuals are given, they should strive to perform it to the best of their ability while ensuring that their talents and competence benefit society.
The former governor extended his condolences to Jacobs’ family, friends, colleagues and the wider Nigerian creative community.
Obi also prayed for strength for those affected by the actor’s death and asked God to grant Jacobs and other departed faithful eternal rest.
