May & Baker Nigeria Plc has cautioned investors and members of the public against a fraudulent investment scheme known as “M&B Equity Stake”, which is reportedly being promoted online with promises of daily or guaranteed returns.
The warning was contained in a statement signed by Mrs Adetoun Abiru on behalf of Marina Nominees Limited, the company’s secretary.
May & Baker said neither the company nor its subsidiaries and affiliates have any connection with the scheme or with individuals, websites, platforms, groups or publications soliciting money under the name of M&B Equity Stake.
The pharmaceutical company warned that any flyer, message, website or other communication requesting funds in its name for the scheme, or any similar investment opportunity, is unauthorised and should be regarded as fraudulent.
The company also clarified that it is not currently conducting any Rights Issue, Public Offer or other capital-raising exercise that requires members of the public to invest.
May & Baker assured stakeholders that any future fundraising exercise would be announced through its authorised communication channels and conducted in line with relevant laws, regulations and the requirements of the Nigerian Exchange Limited and other regulatory bodies.
The company urged its shareholders, customers, employees and the general public to remain vigilant and verify investment-related information through its official channels before committing funds or taking any action.
