Popular Nigerian dancer Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, is reportedly being held on remand in the United Kingdom over an alleged assault offence.
The dancer is expected to appear at the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London for a plea hearing in the second week of September.
The development was disclosed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the community of Nigerians in the UK.
Kuti confirmed the reports in a social media post, saying Poco Lee is currently in a UK prison awaiting his next court appearance.
He also said he plans to attend the proceedings to support the Nigerian entertainer and ensure he receives appropriate assistance during the legal process.
Kuti explained that supporting Nigerians facing difficulties in the UK is part of his activities within the community, including visiting members who are currently incarcerated.
He urged people to allow the judicial process to run its course, stressing that everyone remains innocent until proven guilty by a court.
Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK began circulating on social media on August 19, although limited information is currently available about the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
His expected court appearance in September is likely to provide more information about the allegation and the legal proceedings.
