The daughters of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance after revealing that their father is battling stage-four cancer.
Lima and Kira Taiwo made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, asking Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with experience in cancer treatment to help their 66-year-old father.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Lima said the actor’s health had deteriorated and claimed that hospitals were no longer willing to continue treating him.
Holding back tears, she appealed to anyone who could help the family secure medical care for her father, stressing that they were not asking for financial donations.
Lima said the family only became aware of the seriousness of Hassan’s condition about three weeks ago, explaining that his appearance had not initially suggested that he was seriously ill.
She urged anyone with links to hospitals or medical professionals willing to take on the actor’s case to contact the family, saying they were prepared to explore available treatment options.
Lima also acknowledged the assistance provided by a relative, whom she said had offered significant support to the family during the difficult period.
In a separate Instagram video, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and said the hospital treating him had indicated that it could no longer administer chemotherapy.
She appealed to medical professionals and facilities capable of providing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, to come forward and assist the actor.
Kira also appreciated Senator Yayi, whom she said had been supporting the family and helping to pay the actor’s medical bills.
Like her sister, Kira stressed that the family was not seeking money but medical intervention that could give their father another opportunity to fight the disease.
She asked anyone with knowledge of a doctor, hospital or other medical facility capable of treating cancer to contact her, Lima or the actor directly.
Kira became emotional while discussing her father’s condition, saying she had never seen him experience such severe pain.
She also revealed that Hassan had expressed fear of dying, urging people who could assist with his treatment to come forward.
Taiwo Hassan, 66, is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades. He has appeared in more than 300 films and remains one of the most recognised actors in Yoruba-language cinema.
As of the time of filing the report, neither the actor’s management nor his family had released an official statement providing details about the specific hospital involved, the diagnosis or the type of cancer Hassan is battling.
