eTranzact International Plc has reiterated its support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through enhanced digital payment services, as it expands its collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to advance financial inclusion.
The commitment was announced during the SMEDAN/eTranzact Town Hall Engagement held in Lagos with the theme, “Financial Literacy and Inclusion for MSMEs: Leveraging Fintech Innovation.”
Speaking at the event, the Divisional Head of Merchant Services at eTranzact, Mrs. Abimbola Reis, described MSMEs as a critical driver of Nigeria’s economy. She noted that the country has nearly 40 million SMEs, which play a major role in economic growth and employment generation.
Reis said many small businesses still struggle with limited access to finance, inefficient payment systems, weak financial reporting, cash-flow challenges and inadequate access to digital platforms.
According to her, eTranzact develops infrastructure and customised products designed to address the specific needs of businesses and help them grow, stressing that the company sees small businesses as important accelerators of the Nigerian economy.
She highlighted Credo by eTranzact, a digital payment gateway that allows merchants, SMEs and operators in the informal sector to receive and process payments, as well as PocketMoni, the company’s CBN-licensed mobile money platform used for transfers, airtime and data purchases, and utility bill payments.
Representing the Director-General of SMEDAN, Prof. Yinka Fisher said the town hall was aimed at generating practical ideas that would help MSMEs expand and succeed.
He explained that the partnership with eTranzact is intended to widen opportunities for small businesses and support their continued growth.
Also speaking, Dr. Praise Adedigba, who represented the Director-General of NACCIMA, urged businesses to adopt digital capabilities and build strategic partnerships.
He said stronger MSMEs would lead to improved productivity, increased job creation and broader national prosperity.
