The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, has called for deliberate investment in leadership development, warning that Nigeria cannot afford to have individuals occupying important leadership positions without adequate training.
Adeyemi expressed concern that many people holding positions of authority in the country had never received formal leadership training, despite the increasing economic and social challenges facing Nigeria.
He spoke in Lagos ahead of the 2026 edition of the church’s annual Excellence in Leadership Conference, scheduled to hold on November 5 and 6 at Daystar Christian Centre, Oregun, Lagos.
Making a case for improved leadership preparation, the cleric noted that individuals could unexpectedly find themselves occupying influential political and administrative positions without the necessary leadership experience or knowledge.
He urged Nigerians to participate in the conference, describing it as a valuable investment in their personal and professional development.
The event, themed “Leading in Uncertainty,” will be jointly hosted by Adeyemi and his wife, Nike Adeyemi.
In a joint statement, the couple explained that the conference would examine the responsibilities and challenges of leadership in an environment experiencing continuous economic, social and personal changes.
They noted that previous participants had described the programme as transformative, with some attributing improvements in their careers and businesses to the practical lessons gained from attending.
According to the organisers, the theme was informed by prevailing realities, including unstable markets, increasing living costs, changing government policies and transformations in the workplace.
They also pointed to the approaching general election cycle as another reason Nigerians must develop the ability to lead effectively in uncertain circumstances.
The organisers said participants would gain practical knowledge on how to remain confident, make sound decisions and lead effectively despite unpredictable situations.
They added that the conference would equip attendees with strategies for turning uncertainty into an advantage in their leadership responsibilities.
