Sync Finance Company Limited has appointed Onwuanibe as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, following the receipt of a “no objection” from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors and took effect on October 1, 2026, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sync Finance, Ikenna Imo.
Onwuanibe is a seasoned entrepreneur and business executive, and the Founder and Chief Executive of Landmark Africa Group, the developer of the Landmark Centre and Landmark Beach Resort in Victoria Island, Lagos. The company said his leadership has helped establish the group as a notable player in Nigeria’s real estate, hospitality and leisure sectors.
According to Sync Finance, Onwuanibe brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, investment and the development and expansion of businesses both within and outside Nigeria. He holds an MSc in Architecture, Environmental Design and Planning and an MSc in Construction Management.
In his reaction to the appointment, Onwuanibe said he was honoured to take on the role and would work with the board, management and staff to build on the company’s existing foundation.
He said his priorities would include strengthening corporate governance, deepening the company’s services to customers and supporting sustainable growth in accordance with regulatory requirements.
“I am honoured to take on the role of Chairman at Sync Finance Company Limited. The Company has built a strong foundation, and I look forward to working with the Board, Management and Staff to strengthen its governance, deepen its services to customers, and drive sustainable growth in line with stipulated regulatory standards,” he said.
Also commenting on the appointment, Sync Finance Managing Director, Ikenna Imo, said the company was pleased to welcome Onwuanibe as chairman. He said the new chairman’s record of building enduring institutions and his understanding of the Nigerian business environment would be valuable as the company enters its next phase of growth.
Imo said Sync Finance would continue to focus on delivering innovative financial solutions to its customers, while strengthening its operations and governance. He added that the board and management congratulated Onwuanibe and looked forward to his contribution to the company.
