The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate for the February 6, 2027, Ebonyi State election, Dr Ifeanyi Odii, has promised to reform the state’s healthcare, education and agriculture sectors if elected.
Odii made the pledge while addressing PDP supporters at a meeting in Abakaliki on Thursday.
The candidate said Ebonyi State belongs to its people and should be governed inclusively, arguing that decisions concerning the state should not be left to a small group of people.
He also promised an issues-based campaign and called for an end to what he described as underdevelopment in the state.
Odii urged his supporters to avoid violence, intimidation and harassment during the campaign, while saying his campaign would remain focused on policy issues.
He also warned against political violence, saying no political ambition should result in the loss of a citizen’s life.
The PDP candidate alleged that hunger and poverty had been used by the current political leadership as tools of control, particularly among young people. He said his proposed administration would instead focus on providing opportunities and support for Ebonyi youths.
According to Odii, his campaign blueprint, titled “A Promise of Possibility,” is centred on reducing poverty and improving conditions across key sectors.
He said his proposed administration, beginning May 29, 2027, if elected, would pursue accountable governance, improved infrastructure, quality education, universal healthcare, productive agriculture, support for businesses and greater investment.
Odii said his broader objective was to build what he described as an inclusive, industrialised, innovation-driven and investment-ready economy in Ebonyi State.
He also urged party supporters to communicate his campaign message to voters while maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.
