Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the re-election of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Adeleke the winner on Sunday morning at the state collation centre in Osogbo.
Results from all 30 local government areas showed that Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to emerge ahead of his closest challenger.
Davido had been actively involved in his uncle’s campaign, using his significant social media presence to rally support, share campaign materials and encourage residents to participate in the election.
Following INEC’s announcement, the singer took to social media to celebrate the outcome and express appreciation to the people of Osun State for supporting his uncle.
The victory gives Governor Adeleke another term in office after he first became governor in 2022, when he was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
