The Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has called on stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to embrace its newly launched digital platform, saying it will improve efficiency, transparency, innovation and Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global energy market.
The appeal was made on Wednesday, August 13, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during the unveiling of the portal.
NCDMB Executive Secretary Felix Ogbe, represented by the board’s Manager, Emmanuel Yusuf, said the platform’s success would depend not only on its technology but also on the willingness of operators, contractors, regulators and investors to adopt it.
The event was organised in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BoI) and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) and included technical sessions and interactive discussions with stakeholders from Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
Speaking at the sensitisation programme themed “Compliance Certificate System, Upgraded NCDF Payment Portal and the Revised Community Scheme,” Ogbe said compliance confirmation in the oil and gas industry had traditionally been handled manually, leading to delays that sometimes lasted for weeks.
He noted that the manual process slowed project approvals, created uncertainty and reduced transparency for regulators and investors.
According to him, the new portal is designed to make the process faster, simpler and more transparent.
Ogbe said the platform would reduce certificate processing time from weeks to days, enable online applications without physical visits or paperwork, provide real-time status updates, allow regulators to verify compliance instantly and create a single digital record that investors and lenders can rely on.
He explained that companies that comply with their obligations would be able to obtain certificates more quickly, access financing opportunities without unnecessary delays and invest more resources in projects that create jobs, build local capacity and strengthen Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain.
Ogbe said the portal would provide operators and contractors with faster access to funding, give regulators stronger oversight and better data collection, increase investor confidence and improve the efficiency of the Nigerian Content Development Fund.
He added that the launch sends a message that Nigeria is modernising its systems and making its oil and gas industry more efficient, transparent and globally competitive.
The NCDMB boss also reminded stakeholders that the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act requires one per cent of every contract awarded in the sector to be deducted at source and paid into the Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCDF).
He said the compliance certificate serves as proof that a company has met its obligations and is therefore eligible to access the fund in line with national development objectives.
Representatives of the Bank of Industry and NEXIM Bank expressed support for the initiative and pledged to work with the NCDMB to ensure its success.
BoI representative Mrs. Olamide Oladele outlined financing opportunities available to indigenous oil and gas businesses and said the bank is prepared to support companies operating in the sector as they adopt the new digital platform.
