Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after an emphatic 6-2 victory over Egypt.
The ten-time African champions delivered a powerful attacking performance, scoring six times to book their spot in the knockout stage.
Asisat Oshoala gave Nigeria the lead from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, while Gift Monday doubled the advantage in the 55th minute.
Egypt reduced the deficit through N. Ghazy, who converted a penalty, but Nigeria quickly restored their two-goal cushion when Uchenna Kanu scored in the 81st minute.
The Super Falcons extended their lead further in the 84th minute as Chidinma Ucheibe converted another penalty to make it 4-1.
Ghazy grabbed her second goal in the 91st minute, but Nigeria finished strongly with two late strikes. Rasheedat Ajibade scored from the penalty spot in the ninth minute of added time before Joy Omewa added a sixth goal to complete the convincing win.
The result sends Nigeria into the quarter-finals, where the Super Falcons will face Cameroon, the winners of Group D.
The team will now shift focus to the knockout stage as they continue their quest for another continental title.
