Afrobeats singer Davido has urged residents of Osun State to shun violence and intimidation as preparations continue for the 2026 governorship election.
The artiste made the appeal on Wednesday while speaking at a youth mobilisation event organised in support of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Davido praised Adeleke’s administration, describing the governor as one of the best leaders Osun has produced and pointing to ongoing projects, integrity and diligence as evidence of his performance.
Addressing the crowd as “one of their own,” the singer said he understood the emotions and tension surrounding the election but called on citizens to remain calm and peaceful.
He also expressed confidence in the governor’s chances, noting that his camp had won twice before and hoped to secure victory again in the coming poll.
Davido repeatedly urged voters to reject violence, intimidation, provocation and destruction, encouraging all eligible residents to come out and vote without fear.
According to him, every vote represents a citizen’s voice and must be respected.
The singer further appealed to politicians and other stakeholders to accept the will of the people and allow democracy to take its course.
He said no political ambition or electoral victory is worth violence, destruction or the loss of any life, stressing that politics is temporary while the future of Osun State remains permanent.
