Gaming industry relies on fintech, Blockchain for expansion

Africa’s gaming industry is increasingly embracing fintech, blockchain, digital payments and emerging technologies as key drivers of future growth ahead of the 2027 iGaming AFRIKA Summit.

The summit, scheduled to take place at the Sarit Expo Centre, will build on the success of its inaugural edition in 2026, which attracted more than 3,300 delegates from over 100 countries, bringing together operators, regulators, investors and technology providers from across Africa and beyond.

The 2026 event featured over 100 speakers across two stages and hosted exhibitions showcasing innovations in gaming, regulation, investment and technology.

Chief Executive Officer of iGaming AFRIKA, Jeremiah Maangi, said the 2027 edition aims to expand on that success by placing greater emphasis on technology, investment and sustainable growth within Africa’s gaming sector.

According to Maangi, the organisers are committed to delivering a larger and more impactful event while creating new opportunities for collaboration and innovation across the continent.

The summit will focus on major issues shaping the industry’s future, including regulation, technology, advertising, marketing, digital payments, cryptocurrency, responsible gaming, community empowerment and esports.

Organisers said discussions will draw on global industry trends and explore how innovation can support the long-term development of Africa’s gaming ecosystem.

Maangi noted that Africa has evolved into one of the world’s fastest-growing gaming markets, making the summit an important platform for connecting investors, businesses and policymakers driving the sector’s expansion.

The 2027 summit is expected to attract delegates from more than 120 countries, including a wider range of senior executives, regulators, investors and technology companies.

Organisers also plan to increase exhibition space to accommodate more exhibitors showcasing gaming technology, fintech solutions, digital payment systems and related services.

The iGaming AFRIKA Summit Organising Committee said feedback from the inaugural event has shaped preparations for the next edition, with the goal of delivering greater value for participants across Africa’s gaming industry.

The organisers added that the event will further strengthen Africa’s position as a destination for gaming innovation, investment and regulatory collaboration, as the continent continues to attract growing interest from global gaming companies and technology investors driven by its expanding digital economy and rising internet adoption.
