Peter Obi raises safety concerns ahead of 2027 elections

Former Anambra State Governor and presidential hopeful Peter Obi has expressed concerns about his safety ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying he cannot be certain he will still be alive to contest.

Speaking during an interview, Obi alleged that his businesses and personal activities are being deliberately frustrated, claiming he faces persistent obstacles because of his role in the opposition.

The former governor said he was not making a direct accusation against any individual or institution but maintained that the challenges he encounters appear to be systematic.

Obi also alleged that opposition figures are increasingly being targeted and claimed that some of his supporters now avoid being publicly associated with him for fear of possible repercussions.

He recounted an incident at an airport where he claimed officials locked his vehicle while allowing others to pass without interference, describing it as one of several experiences that have heightened his concerns.

Despite his remarks, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria, saying he remains focused on contributing to the country’s development regardless of the challenges he faces.
