LCCI Calls for CIT Filing Deadline Extension Following Rev360 System Crash

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has called on the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) to extend the June 30, 2026 deadline for filing Company Income Tax (CIT) returns by one month.

The Chamber said the request follows widespread technical failures experienced on the newly introduced Rev360 tax platform, which reportedly prevented thousands of companies from meeting the statutory filing deadline.

In a statement, LCCI Director General, Dr. Chinyere Almona, acknowledged that while some businesses waited until the final day to file their returns, the prolonged disruption of the platform on the deadline day made compliance impossible for many taxpayers.

According to her, the Rev360 platform, launched barely two months ago, suffered extended downtime on June 30, resulting in login failures, validation errors, and unsuccessful submissions as companies attempted to meet the filing deadline.

Dr. Almona stressed that the failure was that of the platform and not the taxpayers, noting that introducing a new digital tax system shortly before a major compliance deadline was bound to present operational challenges, especially under heavy traffic.

She added that the predictable surge in last-minute filings exposed the platform’s limited capacity, leaving many businesses unable to access the system at a critical time.

To restore confidence in the tax administration process, the LCCI urged the Nigeria Revenue Service to take three immediate steps: extend the Company Income Tax filing deadline by one month, waive penalties for companies that attempted to file on or before June 30 but were prevented by the system outage, and strengthen the capacity and stability of the Rev360 platform before the next filing cycle.

The Chamber said a prompt announcement of the deadline extension and penalty waiver would ease growing concerns within the business community and help prevent unnecessary disputes arising from circumstances beyond taxpayers’ control.
