Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has accused unnamed politicians of sponsoring kidnappings in Oyo State and threatened to publicly reveal their identities if the abductions continue.
Speaking during a meeting with newly elected leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at his Ibadan residence, Igboho alleged that certain political actors were providing financial support, ammunition, and protection to criminal groups operating in the state. He claimed to have credible information linking some politicians to the activities of kidnappers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The activist also criticized the Oyo State Government for allegedly preventing him and his associates from participating in rescue efforts following the abduction of students in the area. Igboho argued that insecurity was being weaponised for political purposes and drew parallels between the security challenges facing President Bola Tinubu’s administration and those experienced under former President Goodluck Jonathan, suggesting that some actors were deliberately working to make the country difficult to govern.
