NDLEA Busts Drug Network, Seizes Shipments Hidden in Imported Appliances

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a new concealment method for illicit drug trafficking after seizing high-potency substances hidden inside water purifier machines imported from the Netherlands, alongside multiple arrests and large-scale seizures across several states.

According to the agency, operatives intercepted 3kg of ketamine and 199g of MDMA concealed in the appliances at a courier facility on May 26, 2026. The NDLEA said the discovery formed part of coordinated enforcement operations targeting drug trafficking networks using commercial imports as cover.

In separate operations in Kaduna, Niger and Enugu states, the agency arrested suspects and recovered 1,246kg of skunk as well as 380 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition on the Abuja–Kaduna highway. The NDLEA said the suspects and exhibits have been handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
