HEDA Seeks Stronger Accountability in Nigeria’s Climate Finance Tracking

Sulaimon Arigbabu, Executive Secretary of HEDA Resource Centre, has called for stronger accountability in Nigeria’s climate adaptation financing, saying weak tracking systems are limiting effective use of funds.

Speaking during TRADE FM’S, ASK THE EXPERT on the topic Tracking Climate Change Funds in Nigeria: Issues and Solutions,” he said funding comes from government, donors, development banks, and corporate bodies, but poor coordination affects proper monitoring.

He noted that despite agencies like the Federal Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Finance being involved, unclear classification and weak reporting systems make tracking difficult.

He called for better transparency, stronger coordination, and improved monitoring to ensure climate funds deliver real impact
