The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Taraba State University, Jalingo Branch, has issued a final 14-day ultimatum to the Taraba State Government over the non-implementation of outstanding provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU Agreement.
The union said it could commence industrial action if the issues are not resolved by September 28, 2026.
In a statement signed by the branch chairman, Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, ASUU said the latest ultimatum began on September 14 and will end on September 28.
The union acknowledged the state government’s previous efforts to maintain dialogue and industrial harmony but said several important aspects of the agreement were still pending.
ASUU called on the government to take concrete steps towards implementing the outstanding provisions before the deadline.
The union said it remained willing to engage the government through peaceful and constructive dialogue but would consider lawful measures to protect the welfare and interests of its members if the issues were not resolved.
Mbave also appealed to stakeholders in the education sector to intervene and encourage the state government to address the concerns promptly in order to prevent disruption to academic activities at the university.
The latest notice follows an earlier 14-day strike ultimatum issued by the union on August 13, which expired on August 26.
However, ASUU suspended the planned industrial action at the time to allow the university to hold its combined convocation ceremonies without disruption.
The union has now given the Taraba State Government until September 28 to resolve the outstanding issues or face possible industrial action.
