The male housemates in Big Brother Naija Season 11 have secured their first Thursday wager victory after defeating the female team in a debate focused on the long-running “Nature versus Nurture” argument.
The wager challenge, held on Thursday, required both teams to defend opposing views on what has the greater influence on human character and behaviour.
The female housemates argued that nurture plays the dominant role in shaping a person’s personality, achievements and conduct, insisting that upbringing, environment and life experiences are the strongest influences on who people become.
The male housemates, on the other hand, defended the position that nature is the more powerful factor, arguing that inherited traits and genetics have a greater impact on an individual’s abilities and personality.
After both sides presented their arguments, Big Brother announced the male team as the winner of the debate contest.
The result gives the men their first Thursday wager win of BBNaija Season 11 and comes after a major format twist introduced during the launch of the show.
At the Sunday live launch, contestants were divided into male and female teams for selected tasks, with wager challenges, arena games and other competitions now being contested along gender lines.
Under the new structure, both teams must cooperate to earn rewards while also competing for bragging rights and strategic advantage in the race for the ₦160 million grand prize.
