Police in Niger State have begun an investigation after the body of an unidentified man was discovered hanging inside an uncompleted building in the Albishiri area of Chanchaga Local Government Area.

Residents reportedly found the body on Thursday morning, according to community leader Dangana Abubakar.

Abubakar said the deceased had not yet been identified and appealed to residents to remain calm while security agencies investigate the incident.

He also noted that this is the second time a dead body has been found in an uncompleted building in the area, raising concern among members of the community.

Confirming the development, the spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the police received a report of the incident at about 7:00 a.m. on Thursday.

According to the police spokesperson, preliminary observations suggest that the case is suspected to be suicide, although investigations are still ongoing.

SP Abiodun added that the Chanchaga Local Government Social Welfare Department has been contacted to take the necessary action as the police continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death.
