The Adamawa State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux and arrested two suspects over alleged criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, identifying the suspects as Mustapha Suleiman of Wuro Hausa and Rabiu Garba, 38, of Jambutu, Yola North Local Government Area.
According to the police, the arrests followed a report by Aliyu Usman, who discovered that the Toyota Hilux he bought for N7.5 million had been reported stolen.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen in Rivers State in June 2026 before being transported to Adamawa State by a suspect identified as Mati, who is currently on the run.
Police said the fleeing suspect allegedly conspired with the two arrested men to sell the vehicle to the complainant.
Following the report, operatives recovered the vehicle and traced its rightful owner.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, commended the complainant for reporting the matter and advised members of the public to verify the ownership and documentation of vehicles before making purchases.
He also directed investigators to intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect and ensure that everyone connected to the case is brought to justice.
Police said investigations are ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged in court.
