The Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, says he is ready to submit documents to security agencies to assist investigations into the council’s ₦1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget.
Adeyemi says he is willing to cooperate fully with investigators and plans to hand over all relevant documents to the Department of State Services (DSS) or the Nigeria Police Force for verification.
His statement follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive giving the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) 30 days to investigate the council, which the Presidency says does not officially exist.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has constituted an ad hoc committee to investigate how the agency secured funding in the 2026 Appropriation Act, while the Senate has opted to await the outcome of the ICPC investigation instead of launching a separate probe.
The controversy has also sparked political reactions, with opposition figures questioning the handling of the matter and calling for a transparent investigation.
Adeyemi says he was surprised that an agency publicly described as non-existent could have appeared in the national budget, insisting the documents in his possession will help establish the facts.
