Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved automatic employment for seven outstanding members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who completed their service year in the state.
The announcement was made during an award ceremony for outstanding students, teachers and national award recipients at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor’s Office, Akure, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
In addition to the job offers, Governor Aiyedatiwa presented ₦1 million to each of the 66 award recipients in recognition of their outstanding achievements and dedication.
The governor said the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence, developing human capital and retaining exceptional talent in Ondo State. He described education and skills development as critical to the state’s long-term growth.
Congratulating the awardees, Aiyedatiwa said they had distinguished themselves through academic excellence, innovation, discipline and dedication, bringing pride to Ondo State and serving as role models for younger generations.
He also praised teachers for their role in shaping future leaders, describing them as the foundation of national development. According to him, every success story begins in the classroom through the efforts of committed educators who inspire and nurture young minds.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, said the awards were introduced to promote excellence and motivate students and teachers across the state to achieve greater success.
Ajibefun added that education remains a key priority of the Aiyedatiwa administration and disclosed that the governor has directed that more students and other residents who have excelled academically be identified for future recognition.
