Security Concerns Force MFM to Scale Back Night Services Nationwide

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has suspended vigils and other late-night church activities across its branches nationwide, citing growing security concerns and the need to safeguard worshippers and staff. In a circular dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the ministry’s Director of Administration (International Headquarters and Nigeria), Temitope A. Olawale, the church directed that all services, meetings, programmes and activities must end on or before 8:00 p.m. until further notice. The move reflects how security challenges are increasingly influencing operational decisions across institutions, including religious organisations. Under the new directive, vigils, overnight prayer sessions and similar programmes have been suspended nationwide, although branches may convert such activities into evening prayer meetings that conclude by 8:00 p.m.The circular, addressed to regional and branch leaders across the ministry, emphasised that the measure is aimed at protecting members, church workers and other stakeholders amid the prevailing security situation in the country.MFM stated that the decision is not intended to restrict worship activities but to prioritise safety and risk management. The ministry also instructed Mega Regional Overseers to ensure immediate implementation across all regions, zones, branches and departments under their supervision. The directive will remain in effect pending further review by the church leadership. The development highlights the growing impact of insecurity on organisational operations, as religious bodies and other institutions continue to adjust schedules and activities in response to safety concerns.
