Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has lowered the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, by N200 per litre, amid increased activity in petroleum imports by marketers.
The new adjustment reduces the ex-depot price from N1,800 per litre to N1,600 per litre. Industry sources say the change, which reportedly took effect on May 26, reflects intensifying competition within Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector as imported cargoes begin to arrive in the market. Confirming the development, the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) said the price cut followed the recent arrival of imported diesel shipments. The association noted that stakeholders interpret the move as a competitive response to renewed fuel importation activities by marketers.
