Mbah approves recruitment of 6,580 staff for Enugu Smart Green Schools

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved the recruitment of 6,580 qualified candidates for teaching, technical and administrative positions in public primary and junior secondary schools across the state, with special attention to the 267 Smart Green Schools being developed by the government.

The recruitment was announced through a job vacancy notice issued by the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Hyginus Banko, even though many of the Smart Green Schools are still under construction.

According to the breakdown, ENSUBEB is seeking 4,698 teachers for core subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Basic Technology, ICT, French, Igbo Language and History.

The board also advertised 520 Digital Librarian positions, 380 Experiential Learning Innovators, 267 Guidance and Counsellors, 267 ICT staff, 267 Laboratory Attendants, 136 Account Officers and 45 Technicians.

ENSUBEB stated that applicants for teaching positions must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, an HND with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant subject area.

The board added that registration, proof of registration or evidence of ongoing registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is compulsory for all teaching applicants.

For non-teaching roles, the requirements vary depending on the position. They range from degrees in fields such as Library and Information Science, STEM and Psychology to OND, Trade Test Certificates or SSCE/WASSCE for positions including Laboratory Attendants, Technicians and ICT staff.

ENSUBEB also said candidates applying with a Degree or HND must present a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, while practical knowledge of Information and Communication Technology tools is required across all categories.

Interested candidates are expected to submit a formal application letter, detailed curriculum vitae, copies of credentials, birth certificate or sworn affidavit of age, and valid contact information.

The board emphasized that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge and announced that applications will close on Friday, August 14, 2026.
