Media entrepreneur and founder of JAD Media International Limited, Victory Ayomide Deji, has said digital media is transforming how businesses operate in Nigeria by creating wider opportunities for entrepreneurs to reach audiences and compete effectively with larger brands.
Speaking on Trade FMs Breakfast Business Briefing, Dehji explained that digital platforms have “democratised” marketing, allowing small and medium-sized enterprises to build visibility, engage customers, and expand beyond local markets at relatively low cost. He noted that platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X have evolved into powerful marketplaces that shape consumer behaviour and enable businesses to share their stories with global audiences while maintaining local relevance.
He stressed that content creation and storytelling are now key drivers of brand loyalty and business growth. According to him, consistent and authentic content helps businesses build trust, while digital advertising offers measurable insights through analytics such as engagement rates, website traffic, and conversion tracking. Deji also highlighted the rising influence of influencer marketing, saying consumers increasingly depend on creators’ recommendations rather than traditional advertising.
Beyond marketing, he noted that the digital economy is generating new job opportunities for content creators, graphic designers, video editors, and social media managers, thereby strengthening Nigeria’s creative and tech ecosystem.
However, Dehji acknowledged challenges such as misinformation, shifting social media algorithms, and limited internet access. He urged business owners to remain adaptable, invest in digital skills, and adopt clear marketing strategies that combine paid advertising with organic content.
He further encouraged entrepreneurs to embrace emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and become actively involved in creating content for their brands instead of relying entirely on external agencies.
According to Dehji, businesses that combine innovation, strategic storytelling, and data-driven decision-making will be best positioned to achieve sustainable growth in Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.
